In my years of experience as a wedding photographer servicing Denver, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside a big list of talented vendors and have captured imagery at a large number of venues across the Denver area.
I wanted to share my take on this bright, historic wedding venue and give you a better idea of what this place has to offer any couple considering this destination. After giving you all the insider information on this venue, you’ll be able to make determine if it’s the perfect fit for you.
History
SKYLIGHT is a historic wedding venue located in the Santa Fe Art District, Denver Colorado. Its history began in 1900 at its initial formation and has since hosted many photography galleries and art displays over the decades. SKYLIGHT opened its doors in 2007 and now uses this space to welcome couples to celebrate their wedding day within its white brick walls. Its current name is inspired by the large skylights mounted in the ceiling, streaming soft, natural light into the facility.
Location
In terms of location, it’s ideally positioned for any couple that lives near Downtown Denver. It’s convenient accessibility from all surrounding areas make it ideal for minimal travel and easy access. The Santa Fe Art District is a popular area for galleries, theatres, studios and SKYLIGHT fits right in with the many artists and vendors that strive to bring it to life with their creative abilities.
Appearance
This venue itself is quite spacious, very bright, and great for large gatherings. The style of the venue is urban, chic contemporary and is ideal for clean, bright photos. The overhead windows allow natural light to flood the facility, aka a photographer’s dream! White brick walls and steel chairs are sheltered by the wooden beam ceiling and shining market lights, creating an urban romantic atmosphere. The courtyard’s lush leafy fence provides privacy to the couple and guests.
Layout
SKYLIGHT is very spacious and immediately open up into a large hall. Newlyweds can use this main event space for their indoor ceremony and/or reception. An outdoor courtyard adjacent to the hall allows newlyweds to celebrate with a cocktail hour and fresh air, or to use this space for an outdoor ceremony in the warmth of the sun. As a Colorado wedding photographer, I understand how convenient it is to have the option of an indoor or outdoor ceremony. This courtyard allows couples have the option to pick which ceremony area is more comfortable based on Colorado’s varying weather patterns. Brides have a convenient dressing area to get ready before their big day and the Prep Kitchen is super useful for caterers doing last minute preparations.
