Cielo at Castle Pines – Location!

Cielo at Castle Pines is a gorgeous wedding venue located just 30 minutes south of Denver and nestled between the city and the mountains. Surrounded by towering pine trees and serene natural beauty, the venue offers a secluded, forested atmosphere while still being easily accessible for guests traveling from the metro area or out of state. Its prime location combines the peaceful charm of a mountain retreat with the convenience of nearby hotels, restaurants, and urban amenities, making it an ideal spot for a destination-style wedding without the long drive.

Cielo’s Bridal Suite

A wedding day at Cielo typically begins in the bridal suite, where soft morning light filtered through the large windows. The bride and her bridesmaids generally start out in their pj’s, laughing, and getting their hair and makeup done. I started with flat lays—capturing the invitation, her perfume bottle, rings, and delicate lace details of the gown, and other details. The suite at Cielo is spacious and elegant, offering clean backdrops and beautiful light for these timeless prep shots. The bridal suite has many beautiful mirrors for hair and makeup, as well as a large floor length mirror, which is perfect for full length shots of the bride getting in her dress.

Groom Getting Ready

The groom’s suite at Cielo at Castle Pines is tucked into the basement, offering a relaxed, private space to unwind before the ceremony. With comfortable seating and a laid-back atmosphere, it’s ideal for hanging out with the guys, sharing drinks, and getting ready without distractions.

Wedding Photographer’s Insight to the Venue Layout

One thing I am highly aware of about Cielo is that it is not easy for me to move between the two suites since the bride’s maids are on the upper level and the groomsmen are in the basement. While this is not an issue for the couple since they are separated during these moments, I always recommend that my couples add a second shooter to any wedding package they pick here! That way I can easily cover both rooms without missing a beat. Having a second shooter is paramount if couple’s want adequate getting ready coverage here. All of my pricing info is on my wedding page on my website. I make the second shooter hours customizable, so it can fit within a couple’s budget!

Multiple Ceremony Options

Rain or shine, Cielo has you covered. There are around 3 main ceremony spots around the property. One is directly under the gazebo, which protects the couple in the event that some rain occurs. Generally, guests can sit while holding umbrellas even if there is some precipitation while the officiant, bridal party, and couple remain protected. The second area is in front of the waterfall feature. The waterfall feature makes a great backdrop for photos. There is also the option to have an indoor ceremony, which helps in creating a stress-free wedding day, rain or shine!

Couples Shots

Getting couples shots around Cielo at Castle Pines offers an incredible variety of backdrops, all within steps of each other. The gazebo is a favorite for classic, romantic portraits, especially with the mountains and sky framing the couple beautifully. Just beyond it, the pine forest creates a quiet, secluded feel—perfect for soft, intimate images surrounded by towering evergreens and natural textures. The landscaped waterfall adds movement and elegance, bringing a serene, storybook quality to photos with flowing water and stone details. Even the areas around the building itself provide stunning options, from the refined architecture to the scenic overlooks and manicured grounds. Whether dramatic or tender, each location flows seamlessly into the next, allowing couples to capture a diverse, timeless gallery without ever leaving the venue.

Nearby Mountain Views

Wedding Photographer’s Insight to the Lack of Views

I want you to be aware that there will not be views of the mountains from Cielo. However, there beautiful tall pines that surround the venue, and create an intimate forest escape from the city. This is perfect for couples who want to retreat into a peaceful, quiet area. The venue has also heavily landscaped this place! So there is a waterfall, gazebo, lots of plants, and a trail that swoops around the back of the building that is lined with many plants. Beyond the direct backyard landscaped area, the untouched rustic forest is available for stunning couple’s portraits.

However! There are Alternatives…

Following a ceremony at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church located in Castle Rock, this couple and I took advantage of the church grounds for portraits. The surrounding area is incredibly picturesque, with beautiful landscaping, distant mountain views, and classic stonework around the building itself. Distant views of Pikes Peak make for a perfect Colorado backdrop. See below for some images captured at this location.

Daniel’s Park is another nearby location where couples can get some great portrait shots. Distant views of the foothills add that rustic mountain feel. It’s only around 10-15 minutes away depending on traffic and is easy to get to.  There are no photography permit fees at the time that this article is being written. Below are some images captured at this location. Some couples will take a mini break during the wedding to enjoy the expansive views of rolling hills and distant mountain views. This area is also great for capturing some of Colorado’s famous sunsets! It might be worth it to make the short drive if having mountains is an important feature for your wedding vision.

My Experience Working at Cielo at Castle Pines

As a wedding photographer with over 7 years of experience, I have always enjoyed working at Cielo at Castle Pines. I am only about 25 minutes away, so it is a venue I have frequently worked at. Being on Cielo’s Vendor List is a position I am very grateful to have and is an example of how closely I have worked with the venue Coordinators.

Reception Space at Cielo at Castle Pines

The reception area at Cielo at Castle Pines is bright, elegant, and thoughtfully designed for a seamless celebration. Expansive windows flood the space with natural light and showcase sweeping mountain and golf course views. Neutral tones, high ceilings, and refined finishes create a timeless backdrop that elevates any décor style, while the open layout allows guests to mingle, dine, and dance comfortably throughout the evening.

Some couples I have worked with chose to only have their reception at this location, after they had already had their ceremony in a nearby area. It’s great for a wedding after party, even if you don’t end up celebrating your whole day here. The reception space is massive and hosts a large gathering. Couples love having their grand entrance down the long, curved stairway for a dramatic effect.

Ending Your Wedding Day at Cielo

Ending the day at Cielo at Castle Pines feels warm, intimate, and effortlessly romantic. As the sun sets behind the mountains, guests gather outside around the glowing outdoor fireplace, creating a cozy atmosphere to relax and reflect on the celebration. The soft evening light and scenic surroundings make this the perfect time for couples night shots, with dramatic skies, twinkling lights, and the stone architecture providing stunning photo opportunities. These quiet moments together often become some of the most cherished images of the day. When it’s time for the send-off, the energy shifts once more as friends and family line up to cheer the newlyweds into their next chapter, ending the celebration on a joyful, unforgettable note.
